[Project: Protection and Prevention against Child abuse in HCMC]: Review meeting of the first 6 months

  • by

On 7/7/2020, HCMC Child Welfare Association (HCWA) held a briefing meeting with experts from the Labor Departments of District 8 and Binh Chanh District. The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate the efficiency of the activities being run as part of the “Protection and Prevention against Child abuse in Ho Chi Minh City” project sponsored by the Danish Vietnamese Association (DVA).

At the meeting, it is noteworthy that the Management Board adjusted the operation plan, the regular budget, and increase the number of beneficiaries in some activities. These adjustments were made in order to provide emergency packages including medical masks, hand sanitizer, a milk for 400 children due to Covid-19.

Besides the fund sponsored by DVA, the Management Board also raised funds from other sources to give direct support packages (food, medical masks, health insurance, etc) to residents of District 8 and Binh Chanh District with a total value of 150,000,000 VND. The flexibility and proactive adjustment made by the Board have increased the opportunities for disadvantaged children to access our support services.

On the other hand, the Boardnoted a number of difficulties and limitations they have encountered due to the impact of the COVID-19 which have caused the delay and in some cases the discontinuation of some activities. As the meeting came to a close, all parties agreed to make a tremendous effort to implement not only current, but new activities throughout the remaining 6 months of 2020 in order to continue providing effective assistance to the children in our community.
