On Friday morning (17/07/2020), at the Ho Chi Minh City Child Welfare Association (HCWA) office, the staff of the DVA project and members from the Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Rights Group (CRWG) co-organized the briefing meeting for the third quarter of 2020. The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate the role and participation of unions and social organizations in the supporting, intervening, and handling of violence and child abuse.The 22 participants attending the meeting included officials from social organizations, social protection establishments, NGOs, all of whom are experts, and social workers working in the field of child protection and care.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Pham Dinh Nghinh – DVA’s Project Manager briefly introduced the project. After that, Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh – Deputy Head of Department of Child Protection and Gender Equality of the DOLISA gave a general overview of the situations and forms of violence and child abuse that occur in the city. Mr. Tinh also gave some information about the process of supporting, intervening, and handling of violence and child abuse cases. Next, Mr. Tran Cong Binh – an expert from UNICEF took over leadership of the discussion. Participants enthusiastically shared their own experiences in relation to promoting the participation of social organisations and associations in the community. Finally representatives from each organisation updated the attendees on their upcoming activities and events in aid of child protection and care in HCMC as well as working to connect with other organisations and interested members.
