On April 6 to 9, 2021, on the basis of the 2021 work plan of the Prevention and Protection Against Child Abuse in Ho Chi Minh City Project, the Hội Bảo trợ trẻ em TP.HCM – HCMC Child Welfare Association coordinated with DOLISA of Binh Chanh District, DOLISA of District 8, organized “Training workshop on gender and prevention of sexual abuse & domestic violence”; pursuant to the signed cooperation agreement between the representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Child Welfare Association and the Dansk Vietnamesisk Association (DVA).
Representatives of the organizers include Madam Luong Thi Thuan – Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Child Welfare Association and Mr. Pham Dinh Nghinh – Project Manager of the Prevention and Protection Against Child Abuse in Ho Chi Minh City Project had a speech to share about the meaning and purpose of this activity. Research Center for Gender, Family and Environment in Development (CGFED) – our partner, has sent two specialist lecturers, PhD. Nguyen Le Hoai Anh and Ms. Than Nguyen Phuong Hai to share many useful knowledge about the same field during the four-day training.
The main purposes of the training session:
– Provide basic knowledge, help to raise participants’ awareness about gender and prevention of violence and abuse against children, thereby helping participants to help children who are in distress. domestic violence and sexual abuse.
– Guide the implementation of interventions, contact and support for children who are victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse.
– Strengthen the information exchange mechanism, coordinate and support agencies, units and organizations in the same network in order to gradually contribute to the better and effective protection of children’s rights.
After the training workshop, in many different forms, trainees will be trainers to redeploy at the branches what has been trained for the people, children in the community, at first, it will be deployed in wards, communes and projects, then we will replicate it further.
Through this activity, local officials have the opportunity to exchange, consult before the workshop with representatives of branches and reporters to improve necessary knowledge when performing the community service. Participants shared multidimensional perspectives on gender-based violence and violence against children, methods to consult with children and their families, and ways to determine the risk for potential abuse cases.
