THE INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR STREET CHILDREN 12/04

  • by

Let this day be a reminder for all of us to think of street-involved or at risk of becoming street-involved children.

Every day, a lot of children have to wander along the streets or stand at crossroads regardless of weather conditions. They may or may not have slippers, wearing ragged clothes, with tanned faces, skinny bodies, and their hands holding out Kien Thiet lottery tickets, leaflets or sometimes just an old faded hat to ask you for a few pennies.

These children are often starved, lacked of education, unprotected and, above all, forced to work. Further, because they live in poverty at a very young age, they are also prone to society’s vices, making the cycle of poverty unable to escape.

Knowing that, not only Hội Bảo trợ trẻ em TP.HCM – HCMC Child Welfare Association but also many other organizations working for children are trying our best to improve children’s lives in terms of health, spirit and environment, because “A street is not a home”!
