  • by

The Ho Chi Minh City Child Welfare Association has recently completed a working trip to Singapore as part of the CapitaLand Community Resilience Initiative (CCRI) 2026, with the participation of:
• Ms. Luong Thi Thuan – Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Child Welfare Association
• Ms. Huynh Thi My Lam – Communications & Fundraising Coordinator

During the programme, the delegation attended The 2026 Philanthropy Asia Summit organized by the Philanthropy Asia Alliance (PAA) under the theme “Asian Innovation. Global Good.” The summit brought together organizations, experts, and leaders in the fields of community development and philanthropy across Asia to promote cross-sector collaboration models and sustainable social impact initiatives.

In addition, during the event “Strengthening Community Resilience for Children and Youth in Asia,” Ms. Luong Thi Thuan delivered a presentation sharing the nearly 40-year journey of the Ho Chi Minh City Child Welfare Association, as well as the organization’s ongoing programmes supporting disadvantaged children within the community. Her presentation also addressed the challenges faced by vulnerable children and youth in the context of rapid urbanization, while emphasizing the importance of building community ecosystems capable of supporting children earlier, more consistently, and more sustainably.

The delegation also participated in the panel discussion “From Commitment to Impact: Catalysing Community Resilience Through Investing in Children and Youth” alongside representatives from Singapore, India, and China. The discussion focused on strengthening community resilience through investments in children and youth, particularly as Asian cities continue to face significant economic and social changes.

During the panel discussion, Ms. Huynh Thi My Lam shared insights into the realities faced by vulnerable children in urban settings, the challenges in building community-based support networks for children, and the importance of cross-sector collaboration among social organizations, schools, healthcare providers, local authorities, and communities in providing more holistic and sustainable support for children.

As part of the working trip, the delegation also had the opportunity to visit and learn from community-based models in Singapore, including Tak Takut Kids Club and the PCS CareAbilities Programme, to further explore approaches in supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families through community activities and cross-sector collaboration.

The working trip provided an opportunity for the Association to strengthen international connections, exchange professional experiences, and gain further exposure to effective community development models in the region, thereby contributing to the continued improvement and expansion of programmes supporting children in Ho Chi Minh City.
