Hn’s Story

  • by

I was born in a central highlands province – a land of sunshine and wind. When I was nine years old my father died. My mother had to do physical work to raise me and my two siblings with a nominal income for frugal meals per day.

My family was listed as “poor family” to be supported by the local authority. Due to the money was tight, I had to quit schooling to support my mother with housework. I was upset being separated from my friends and school.

I often dreamt of a fairy in white dress holding a magic wand to help my family out of such a hardship. Looking at my small frail mother, I sadly did not know what to do for my mother and my future. Looking at the stars above, every night I prayed for my family to get out of the poor background, and that I would go back to school one day.

In a day of October when the weather got really cold in the highlands, a guest came to visit my family, suggesting that I could stay in a shelter in a big city, and that the shelter would be the second home to help ease the financial burden on my mother’s shoulders and give me with a better future. I and my mother looked at each other with a moment of hesitation and finally decided on this suggestion.

I was new at the shelter environment in the beginning but quickly and well integrated with the living condition here. I considered Little Rose Warm Shelter as the second family.

It is September when the new school year is coming very soon. Tomorrow, I will go back to school, meeting new friends and having new books. My dreams coming true, my life turns a new page with a lot of joys and future hopes from now on.”
